"Our goal is to make a magazine of the highest quality possible, while still keeping the price at a reasonable level," said David Vogel, editor of Peace Mania Magazine. "Readers wanted color printing, so now we're in full color."
Vogel also noted that because of the raised price due to color printing, the magazine would be switching from bimonthly publications to quarterly.

MAGAZINE CORRECTION A fairly major error was recently pointed out to me about a mistake that has been made in both the January/February and March/April 2006 issue of Peace Mania Magazine. In the regularly appearing article about Peace's tag variation, we incorrectly reported that a common tush tag number on Peace is number 105. However, it should have read 115. The number 105 was never printed in Peace's tush tag, and we will get that corrected for the next issue of Peace Mania Magazine.

MAGAZINE IS IN HAND I have recieved my copies of the March/April issue of Peace Mania Magazine, and it is fantastic! The cover has bright, vibrant colors (much brighter than the image at right) and the contents of the magazine are crammed with info--and LOTS of pictures--that any Beanie collector could want! The special section celebrating 20 years of Ty Inc. is 12 pages, and includes a short biography on Ty Warner, 20 years of highlights, an article with collectors' comments about Ty's last 20 years, and more! Also in this issue is a light history of Sue Owen and CHERISH, the featured Web master (Ms. Janie), the featured Peace collection (Rene Foppe), Peace MythBusters and the luckiest Beanie poems of all time. New items joining the magazine this issue are the Beanie Zoology series (this issue it's Spotter the leopard), Crafty Corner and Words of Advice from Jumbo Peace! Of course, there's A LOT more.
Those who got the first issue of Peace Mania Magazine may have felt that it left a little to be desired. I agree, but it was also our first issue and we were still learning how to put things together. After flipping through this issue, I feel that it makes up for any disapointment from the first issue, and is a great addition to anyone's collection!

GLOBAL BREAKFAST Sue Owen from CHERISH shares this report:
Hi, I hope that you will share this information with your readers.
I am inviting you all to the CHERISH Global Breakfast - of course it would be lovely to share breakfast with you all in person but as that cannot happen then this is the next best thing! It is being served in aid of Cancer Research UK as part of the Britain's Biggest Breakfast event being promoted during March by the charity.
For the third year running CHERISH will be hosting an on line event this Sunday 12th March. There will be special breakfast-themed Beanies for sale from 9am (UK time) - featuring Curly bears wearing some fantastic salt-dough bagels and donuts made by Jennifer aka PattiBuddy, along with various other accessories including tiny Ty tote bags containing tiny eggs. Each bear wears a pin badge that matches its bagel or donut. The bears will come as 'Breakfast To Go' packages, displayed in coffee cups and napkins. There will be 20 of each style available, with the first 5 buyers being offered the chance to buy one of a special edition of just 5 Curlys with pink frosted donut (and sprinklies of course!), matching pin badge, brighter coloured tote bag and different napkin.
Another contribution from the USA is from Nancy (of Bits and Peaces) who has made lovely little coffee bean printed dresses for a series of 10 Curls bears. These are packaged with coffee-related accessories and will be sold from the CHERISH website as well as eBay (seller ID sue_owen). There is also a Canadian contribution to this package - from a lovely lady called Margaret who has made wonderful tote bags from bear-printed fabric - perfect for picnics or for keeping your craft projects in.
In addition there will be some one of a kind packages offered for sale - mostly through eBay - such as Curly wearing his own little bath robe and carrying his tiny breakfast goodies, with a super crochet bag with breakfast items forming part of the design (thanks Jennifer!) and with a bean bag seat made from breakfast fabric (thanks Andy and Joyce from Canada!) There will also be Curly wearing a Boglin's knitwear breakfast-themed sweater as well as some unusual knitted breakfast (thanks to Karen from UK).
In addition there will be special auctions of celebrity signed items and anything else breakfast-related!
It would be wonderful to welcome as many guests to the event as possible and you are asked to sign the guest book that will be open on the day so that we can see just how global the breakfast really was! There will be some contests too and you can already join in the fun by emailing me with some Beanie Breakfast photos - or indeed anything breakfast-related that may be of interest to share with others on the site!

UPDATES You've probably noticed that Peace Mania has not had much action for the last few weeks. This is a combination of several things. First, is my lack of time. Due to school and other activities, this Web site usually gets shoved behind everything else. Another issue is the lack of Peace bear news. Lately, there haven't been any promotions, strange oddities or any other events worth putting on here. If you have news, FEEL FREE to send it, even if it's just Beanie related! Finally, is Peace Mania Magazine. The second issue is about ready to hit the press! The magazine has gotten a lot of great response, and I think that as we continue to put more out, our quality will get better and better. NEW CHERISH PEACE PROMOS The UK-based charity CHERISH is offering two new promotions featuring Peace! The first is a one-of-a-kind Peace Buddy that compliments the CHERISH Peace bear that went on sale November 13. Second, the CHERISH Web site is also supporting the WORLD CHALLENGE 2007 Peace II Package. This promotion is to raise funds for Matthew Owens on his World Challenge trip. CHERISH PEACE The UK-based charity CHERISH is using Peace in another fundraiser to support the research of cancer in the UK. Peace will be featured in In November We 'CHERISH Peace.' There will be a limited number of 50 available, and they will be sold directly off of the CHERISH Web site. The bears go on sale Sunday, November 13.
HEMPORIUM TO CELEBRATE 2ND YEAR The San Diego, CA, jewelry company The Hemporium will celebrate its second anniversary on November 15 by selling 50 commemorative Peace bears! This promotion is a thank you to all their costumers.

CHERISH FUNDRAISER FOR UK BOMBING VICTIMS Sue Owen, head of the UK-based charity program Cherish, released information today about upcoming auctions that will benefit the London Bombings Relief Fund. The auctions will be held on ebay, and will feature (I Love) London the bear, Peace the bear,

I was watching a Showboat Peace bear on Ebay (click here to see auction), so did a bit of checking on it. Hear's what i was told by a well know Livent seller who also has wrote articles on the subject for UK magazines.
Nancy also added that--concerning the "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, while most Livent Broadway Joseph Peace bears are sold with "Joseph" pins, the bears were not actually issued with the pins. This means that if your Peace bear came with a pin, it was added later.LIVENT did not ever issue this bear. Some reports were erroneously published in a Beanie mag about this upcoming release, and a few unscrupulous sellers did some ribbon switching, from what I gather... The only "Showboat Peace" on the secondary market are not legitimate SB LIVENT promotions, so no, I don't buy or sell those...!
Peace Mania comment: Thank you for sharing your research. My personal opinion regarding the "Joseph" pins is, even though they were not official, I still think that they add a unique touch to the bears.
